Maëlle Kervarec, the director general of SIA-Africa, discusses the nonprofit's history, mission, and impactful projects across Ghana and Africa. And how they leverage partnerships as a "Matchmaker". Founded in 2011 and registered as a 501(c)(3) in New York City, SIA Africa -- standing for Sustainable Initiatives and Alliances for Africa -- works in education, health, economic investment, and women empowerment by matching resources with opportunities and needs. Operating with a volunteer-based team, they engage beneficiaries and partners to cultivate sustainable change on a very lean budget. Challenges such as volunteer retention and partnership dynamics are also addressed. About Maëlle Kervarec

Maëlle Kervarec has served as the Director General Operations, Communications & Development at SIA-Africa since 2015.  In addition to her volunteer work at SIA-Africa, Maëlle has worked as a higher education professional, a marketing executive, and a director of international relations in a variety of global contexts in Canada, Ireland, the Canary Islands and in the U.S.  At SIA-Africa, based in New York City, Maëlle has been the catalyst and leader of major social, economic and educational initiatives like The Kodjoe Gabai Bloomberg Project, which advocates for diversity inclusion, livelihood creation paths, and opportunities for direct financial independence for young women in Africa.    Maëlle Kervarec’s linkedin profile.
